On May 20, the media center of the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater will host a meeting with Alisa Prudnikova, Program director of the V–A–C Foundation and the GES-2 House of Culture, commissioner and artistic director of the Ural Industrial Biennale of Contemporary Art.

Lecture’s topic “The logic of a large cultural project for the city"

The third lecture of the annual 1703 art fair program, designed jointly with the Masters school, talks about how regions can grow thanks to art, which is achieved by opening galleries, building art communities and interaction of cultural institutions with the city, key partners and private investors.

Russian regions achieve their cultural ambitions by building large modern museums, hosting major festivals or biennales. What is the history of the biennial movement in Russia, how much can one artistic residence change, and how do artistic projects make various spaces iconic? The guests of the event will discuss these questions in a dialogue with an initiator of signature cultural projects of the Urals, which have gained international acclaim.

Date: May 20. Time: 13:00. Venue: Media Center of the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater (Fontanka River Embankment, 49).

This and all other events of the 1703 annual lecture program are available by registration only. Subject to availability.
