Saint-Petersburg’s 1703 Art Fair Announces This Year’s Panel of Experts
Only two weeks left until application deadline for the new season of 1703 art fair. As soon as the open call ends, the panel of experts will review the applications and decide on the final list of participants.
The diversity of roles among panel members allows for the broadest possible look at the artistic process, taking into account the variety of aspects during the evaluation period, which resolves into a bold and vibrant view of contemporary art.
This year’s panel features the following members:
- Fedor Boltin, chairman of the Committee for Culture of Saint-Petersburg,
- Alexander Borovsky, acting head for the Newest Trends Department of the State Russian Museum, art history Ph.D, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts,
- Marina Gisich, gallerist, founder of Marina Gisich Gallery and Marina Gisich Projects,
- Irina Gorlova, art critic, exhibition projects curator,
- Angelina Karpukhina, executive director of 1703 Art Fair,
- Maria Kravtsova, art historian, editor-in-chief of Artguide,
- Sergei Popov, art critic, founder of pop/off/art gallery,
- Anna Yarlova, director of the Manege Central Exhibition Hall.
Participation is open not only to galleries, but also artistic associations and platforms that work with new media. Depending on the concept and specifics of the works submitted, each participant is free to pick one of the fair’s four available sections:
- Base — for long-established galleries with high professional status and emerging galleries with their own exhibition space and regular exhibition programs,
- Algorithm — for galleries and platforms that work with new media, NFT and digital art,
- Project — for artistic associations and galleries without permanent exhibition space of their own,
- Material — for galleries offering collectible design works and interior art pieces.
Participation in the fair remains free for galleries, while booths of equal size are distributed at random, regardless of participant’s experience, status and financial capabilities. This approach is made possible by the project’s founder — PJSC Gazprom, an ardent supporter of contemporary art in Saint-Petersburg.
You can submit your application in the Account section of the 1703 art fair web page until February 28th 2025.
