This section brings together both long-established and young art galleries. Gallery booths showcase not only the works of recognized artists and collectives that have become classics, but also very young authors. They are all united by the principle of historical references, homages and reconsiderations of artistic styles. All of the art objects are available for purchase. The bright, iconic works that have been selected by galleries for presentation at the fair broadcast different periods of time and interpret their narratives.
This year, the thematic focus of 1703 Art Fair is collecting. The non-commercial program of the section is about contemporary practices in the formation of collections. As part of a curatorial special project, Marina Gisich Gallery and KGallery present iconic works from private collections and the golden pool of galleries. Béton Center of Visual Culture presents an exhibition of photographs by leading national and foreign photographers of the second half of the 20th century.
In the Digital and NFT projects section, media artists present digital works, multimedia installations and art objects at the intersection of art, science and technology. Among the participants of the section there is a platform for the development of a transdisciplinary dialogue between the artistic and scientific communities – Art & Science Center of ITMO University, the multifunctional digital art platform Masters Digital and the multi-format project Generative Gallery.
For 1703 Art Fair, the Masters School team has prepared a special program of lectures, discussions and art mediations. As part of the lecture hall, leading experts in the field of art, curators and gallery owners will talk about promising young artists, the future of the gallery business, the secrets of collecting, and trends in digital and NFT art.
Art-mediation is an active dialogue about art between a mediator and the viewers. Mediator Natalya Agapova will introduce the guests to the works of art presented at 1703 Art Fair and to the peculiarities of the art market structure through the prism of the audience's own feelings.
Mediator: Natalya Agapova is an art manager, art mediator at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall and a graduate of the School of Mediators of the Ural Biennale of Contemporary Art.
