Marina Gisich Gallery

Contemporary art from the private collections of the players of the club "Zenith" and collections of Marina Gisich Gallery. To Be With Art ("To be with art") – a special section of the fair "1703", representing the work of contemporary artists from Russian private collections. What does it mean to be with art in our time? Lifestyle? Way of thinking? To be involved in something that is not subject to time and space? A task gallery business in Russia today - not only in the sale of individual works, but also in the promotion of a certain way of life, which is in dialogue with the art that is being born in our contemporary generation. To be with art does not necessarily mean to possess, nevertheless this section of the fair is dedicated to the heroes of their time - collectors who allowed themselves one day to open the door to another world.

For the first edition of the fair, Marina Gisich Gallery team – one of the first and of the most experienced galleries from St. Petersburg – has prepared a special exhibition project, very closely connected with the city. Marina Gisich Gallery was opened in St. Petersburg in 2000 and for more than 20 years has successfully established itself in the Russian and international professional community. Over the years a unique circle of artists and collectors has been formed. A special book is dedicated to this topic "To Be with Art", published for the twentieth anniversary of the gallery. For more than 10 years the gallery has been working with a number of famous sportsmen, whose fate is inextricably associated with the football club "Zenith". Since 2011, in the process of meticulous cooperative work, which was accompanied by incredible passion, openness, curiosity and complete trust on the part of the customer, these wonderful collections have been developed. Today in family collections of six club players there are about 100 works, representing a cross section of Russian contemporary art, where special attention is given to St.Petersburg authors. The exhibition in the Manezh, which opens the exposition of the fair, is an opportunity to share the experience of this trusting relationship between the gallery owner and collectors that has become a "team play": along with works from family collections of Natalia and Konstantin Zyryanov, Ekaterina and Vyacheslav Malafeev, Anna and Sergey Semak, Ekaterina and Igor Smolnikov, Victoria and Oleg Shatovs, Veronica and Alexander Erokhin iconic works from the personal collection of Marina Gisich will be presented.
