The first event in the series of public lectures and discussions in the run-up to the 2nd St. Petersburg Art Fair "1703" was held on March 23rd, 2023.

Evgenia Popova delivered an inspiring talk on how to start collecting. Evgenia is the cofounder of the Popov Foundation and the curator of the "Dialogue of Art" magazine by the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA).

Evgenia shared her experience about investing in art, and presented the main strategies of building personal collections, shared some myths about contemporary art, and discussed the ways of acquiring aesthetic intelligence and discretion for beginner collectors.

The opening lecture was broadcasted in the Fair's "1703" VK page where it registered more than 150 thousand views. The video recording of the lecture "How to Start Collecting without Fear?" is available at the link.

All the lectures and discussions of the annual program will take place once a month at the venues of significance for St. Petersburg's creative community. The purpose of such meetings with experts is to get the general audience acquainted with the format of the art fair, to explain its nitty gritty and to raise awareness about contemporary art, collecting and current trends.

All events at the 1703 Fair Lecture Series are open for general attendance and free of charge. Attendance is available by pre-registering on the fair's website (subject to availability).
